Food for All

Food For All Program Builds Community Gardens

In Chester County, PA alone there are over 100,000 people every year (including children and the elderly) that rely on food cupboards and pantries due to food insecurity and hunger.

"No one should go hungry" is the belief of the dedicated people at Chester County Food Bank. We agree, and so do our youth. Together, we started Food for All in partnership with the Food Bank to build community organic garden beds at sites owned by organizations willing to donate food to those in need.

Our project has inspired faith communities, schools, private organizations and businesses to harness their communal spirit and volunteer energies for the creation of a practical and long term solution to alleviate hunger in our area by starting their very own community organic garden project on their site and producing wholesome staple foods that will directly support those in need.

Triskeles’ green interns are fully involved in helping to create these gardens, learning first-hand the value and importance of community-wide efforts.

Triskeles provides all materials, labor, seeds and training for the volunteers to establish the raised bed garden.

  • Triskeles staff will work with your volunteers throughout the first growing and harvesting season and in close coordination with the Food Bank to ensure a planned and coordinated flow of produce to those in need.
  • Food for All also affords the young people in your congregation and opportunity to extend the activities in the garden to entrepreneurial projects such as market gardens, plant sales or composting services.

The growing season will provide weekly gardening enjoyment for the families and work groups that care for the raised bed garden. We fully appreciate the individuality of each organization and anticipate helping each group define its interests and capacities to participate in the project. We will serve as mentors, order and arrange for materials to be delivered, construct each bed, and install and help to maintain the gardens throughout the first year of the project.
