Kimberton Whole Foods Harvest

Kimberton Whole Foods Harvest

Triskeles is a local non-profit that offers youth programs focused on building community and living a conscious, sustainable lifestyle.

We support Triskeles’ summer youth program, Food for Thought by providing some of the food staples they need for their daily breakfast and lunch served at the Kimberton Waldorf School. After a hard day at work on the fields of the CSA, these kids are hungry! A wholesome homemade meal is provided twice a day, made with produce straight from the CSA.

In partnership with the Chester County Food Bank, the Food For All program builds community organic garden beds at schools, churches, private organizations and businesses. Our Kimberton store has 4 raised beds where we grow potatoes, swiss chard, eggplant, lettuce, tomatoes, radishes, peppers and cucumbers. With the help of their knowledgeable staff, we’ve learned about maintaining vibrant plants and healthy soil as well as techniques for pest

After each harvest from our raised beds, we deliver the fresh produce to local food pantries who will distribute to the community. Some of the abundance from
our gardens goes to our café where the swiss chard might be added to soups and the cucumbers top green salads for our customers.

Two high school students were selected by Triskeles to maintain a large garden at Park Spring Apartments in Spring City as part of a job skill and entrepreneurship training program called Green Pathways for Youth. Kimberton Whole Foods has bought and sold the kale from their garden throughout the summer, when it’s available you can find it on our produce rack.

Trikeles, Inc. serves as an educational resource for KWF staff. The Triskeles team members have been excellent mentors this summer, working directly with our staff to provide guidance and tips throughout the growing season.
