Ah, the glorious heat that precedes the month of August. If the weather is foretelling of how the rest of the Summer will be, than I must stress the importance of H2O! Water, water, water…people! Please be aware that we are educating the teens about the importance of staying hydrated during warm Summer months and I extend an invitation to continue rehearsing this habit at home as well.
The kitchen has been very busy this past week, which has stalled our blog posts; let me give you a little update for Days 8 through 14(today).
(Field Trip) Day 8 Breakfast- Granola, Yogurt, Milk & Almond Milk
Day 8 Snack-Popcorn
Day 8 Lunch- PB&Js or Vegetable Hummus Wraps, Chocolate Chip Cookies, Apples
Day 9 Breakfast- Bagels with Cream Cheese or Butter
Day 9 Snack- Zucchini Cake
Day 9 Lunch- Zucchini Top & Bottom with refried beans, onions, & sauteed vegetables, Cucumber Salad, Carrot Rice Salad, Garden Salad, Sautéed Broccoli, Zucchini Brownies
Day 10 Breakfast- Oatmeal, Milk or Almond Milk
Day 10 Snack- Cantaloupe & Brownies
Day 10 Lunch- Peppers stuffed with Quinoa, Rice & Vegetables, Chickpea Curry Salad, Bean & Quinoa Salad, Garden Salad, Zucchini Cake
Day 11 Breakfast- Granola, Yogurt, Milk or Almond Milk
Day 11 Snack- Oatmeal Cookies
Day 11 Lunch- Carrot & Zucchini Latkes, Cucumber Salad, Corn on the Cob, Garden Salad, Oatmeal Cake

Day 13 Lunch- Pasta with Homemade Red Sauce (Regular or Gluten Free Pasta), Six Vegetable Soup, Citrus Beet Salad, Garden Salad, Chocolate Birthday Cake with Strawberry Glaze
Day 14 Breakfast- Granola, Yogurt, Milk & Almond Milk
Day 14 Snack- Watermelon
Day 14 Lunch- Vegan Sloppy Joes, Pasta Salad, Beet Salad, Garden Salad, Strawberry Cake
*Fresh, homemade Honey Wheat Bread is served with all meals (excluding field trips).
We are beyond excited to finish out our last full week of the program strong! Hard work, good food and good friends make for a successful summer program.
