Food for Thought

Green Summer Jobs – Sustainable Farming – Youth Wellness – Community Service

Triskeles' Food for Thought program actively engages teenagers ages 13-19 in hands-on experiences involving sustainable farming, cooking and nutritional activities and entrepreneurship for youth. Food for Thought, a summer program based in the northern Chester County area, helps young people learn to make healthy choices for living a healthier life. It’s a green summer job that points to a variety of interesting careers.  Food for Thought reaches young people just as they are starting to make their own food choices. Teenage years are heavily targeted by the fast food and junk food industries. This is a significant factor in why adolescent obesity statistics, along with their associated diseases, are so alarmingly high. We work with a diverse group of hard-working young teens who are interested in making a difference.

Green Summer Jobs

We have opportunities for green internships and will teach youth important job skills to help them get ahead.

Community Service

During our community service time, teens get involved with installing and maintaining community gardens generating healthy local food for disadvantaged county residents.

Youth Wellness

We offer many opportunities to learn about wellness and nutrition. We can also help youth learn how to garden and grow your own food.

When youth get fully involved with their hearts and hands, lessons become ingrained and have a lasting impact far beyond what can be just taught in a classroom.  Food for Thought participants learn skills and make connections they will use all their lives. These teens have an impact in the rapidly-growing local organic food movement, have fun outside, eat delicious food, make friends and earn stipends for their work.
